Slipping clutch. Possible bad drivetrain?
Some of you already know the issue I'm going through, any usable constructive input is welcomed.

Two nights ago, I was driving from work in my NX2000. I noticed that after about 2500 to 3000 RPM the motor would rev on up and my speed would barely increase.

The same thing the next day (yesterday). When I got home last night, I noticed that when the shifter is moved to the right from the neutral position, and back to the middle again, a strange "door creaking" noise is omitted. But when the shifter is moved from the middle to the left... no noise. It was getting dark so I left it alone and went inside.

This morning upon driving to work.... the car ran fine! No problems! It wasn't until about 40 minutes into the drive that the issue began to repeat itself.

It got so bad that when I finally got back to my apartment complex that I needed help pushing the car uphill and then into a parking spot. Even with the shifter in the 1st gear position with the car motionless the motor doesn't shut off, so that means the clutch isn't engaging.

The clutch is an ACT stage 2 clutch, the pressure plate is stock.

There are no strange noises, or grinding or violent shaking going on.

This being my first 5 speed vehicle I assumed it was the drivetrain, being that I've had such issues with automatics in the past. After asking friends, and doing research. I've "assumed" that it is either the clutch or the pressure plate, possibly the springs going bad. I'm not sure.

If anyone has experienced this or has opinions related to my issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks guys!

In my completely UNprofessional opinion, it does sound like your clutch is slipping. But where is the creaking noise coming from? At the base of the shifter? Towards the front of the car? Where? Could it be a worn out bushing?

The creaking is coming from the base of the shifter. I also suspected it may be a cable going bad....

Either way I appreciate your input.

Maybe it is the stock PP not being able to hold the ACT disc?

Possibly, but i also have stock PP ( actually Exedy stock ) with an ACT 6 puck disc. It holds my 10 psi on T25 fine.

I say slipping clutch. as for the creak possibly a worn shifter bushing?

I would guess that the bushing that holds the shift linkage is bad. I would get the sway bar bushing and replace the bushing. Then get the ES shift linkage bushing kit and go to town.

the noise is whats left of the clutch that was engaging.the noise went away towards the end as you noticed the car was berely in motion.. trannys good got you home.. clutch is fried. it happens... remember to resurface flywheel an get the clips for the throw out bearing from nissan the old ones shouldnt be used.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

UPDATE: I am able to start the car, however the vehicle will not move, no matter what gear I put it in. I can feel the clutch attempt to grab, you can feel the motor begin to labor as it would normally however there is no movement...

Just curious, how old was the clutch and did you beat on it at all?
