Anyone familiar with QX4's?
I am looking into picking up a second gen QX4 sometime soon. Something about them that I love even though its a glorified Pathfinder. I did some searching and the VQ's seem to be rock solid in them. Seen a bunch of guys clocking 300+K on the odometers. Also read that the "power valve" screws should be removed, lock tighted, and reinstalled. I found the front strut tower is an area to check before buying due to rot issues.

Any of you guys have any experience with them? Just trying to find out the most I can before I pull the trigger. Also, says they require 93 octane. Is this an absolute? I can't imagine timing maps or compression being that high that they really require it. Anyway, just looking for more info.

rear main seals and rear trailing arm bushings and on high mile vehicles the coolant crossover o rings are the only really big issues, I ever seen, I owned one, it was killer, but I had a 94 Isuzu rodeo I liked much better.

you can have nissan retard the timing electronically so you dont have to run premium, it is recommended though, or you will get pinging. I would easily say that is the best pathfinder to date though.

Unless you have to replace the alternator and you have man sized hands

^Lol. Thanks for the feedback fellas. Rear main seal kind of sketches me out but it is what it is. Could be a lot worse. I just wanted to see what other possible bad things there were about these things. They seem to be rock solid for what they are.

the rear main seal will give you a couple little dribbles on the driveway. I liked mine, just like my rodeo I had better. that thing took whatever I threw at it.

Yeah which wouldn't bother me too much. Not sure why I love the QX even over the same year pathfinder. Going to check out a few and do some test drives before I pull the trigger. Then it will be time to put the sentra on a diet lol.

I like the pathfinders better, at least get rid of those ugly ass wheels they all come with, that is probably the biggest killer for me. 04 platinum rims FTW! some of the infiniti's have rear heated seats, in case you area really conscious about having options.

Yeah. Something about those factory rims I love. Haven't seen one with decent looking aftermarket wheels. I've noticed guys run some off road rims or some huge 24" chrome blingers
