2012 Maxima - POS!
My parents drove from NY to visit me in SC yesterday and decided to rent a car for the trip. The rental company gave them a 2012 Maxima.
Overall my father said it was a comfortable and quick cruiser but he wouldn't buy one as the car just felt cheap. (He said he'd buy his old 1990 Maxima again over again if he could.)
I can't agree more. This looks to be a mid-level model. Power seats, sunroof etc... but still, Nissan couldn't convince me to buy one.

Few things I've found:
The interior looks dated and is unimpressive (doesn't even have a USB jack!)
The CVT sucks and makes the mighty VQ sound like crap.
You can feel engine vibrations at idle through the steering wheel (Can't feel a thing in my wife's 2011 Tucson for comparison)
Not a very quiet car at highway speeds.

Pros: The car has balls. I absolutely smoked a new Chrysler 300 from a red light today (at the uh, drag strip of course)
Outside it's a good looking car and I love the way you can see the bulges on the hood and the rear fenders from the drivers seat. LED taillights look nice too.

New Nissans... meh. :numbness:

Just like the b16. I got rid of ours because of cheap interior and engine. Wife loves her 02 g20 more. Won't buy any Nissan over 06 anymore.

Those awful stock tires dont help the annoying road noise either. I rode in one and I was expecting smoothness like a murano or a rogue since the new maxima is so big. Nope, fairly noisy for a new car.

Deal breaker for me is no manual option. Look at youtube videos of CVT performance in the Maxima. Horrible. I think that with a manual trans, you'd see that 1/4 mile drop by 0.5 sec. Aside from that, it's an improvement over the previous generation imho.

I honestly love it. Took my friends maxima for the day (2012 fully loaded model) and loved it. The fuckin thing definitely gets up around town. Maybe I didn't pay much attention to it.

I just quit my second job as valet and I could not stand any of the cars with CVT. Ford, GM, Audi, Nissan. They were pathetic as far as performance.

The interior on the car is very cheap and very plain. As stated earlier, the idle is extremely chincy and you can hear everything. What I do like are the body lines but that is about it. Way better cars in the Maximas respected class.
