This is what we are doing to the BRZ at the shop

As awesome as doing this is... It's not legal in pretty much any state in the US. There may be a state that will allow it, but none of the states I've lived in legally allow you to put in a larger than factory motor.

The FA20 is a beast in its own right. Guys are making well over 450whp now without issues. It is a very potent engine. I was expecting the engine to be the weakest link, but it isn't so far. 350whp daily should do very nicely and hold up for a long time.

The HKS kit is just garbage. Looks like they hired a bum off the street to develop it. I'm not a hater, but it is retarded. The piping looks like an afterthought to the supercharger placement. The Vortech kit looks a million times better, and is nearly half the price.

Really?

Well we do we have a Turbo LSX 350Z that fully passed inspections/emissions here in CT?

DMV came right to the shop to do the visual and plug in test.

Legal when done correctly here in CT.

Same in Texas... and Colorado... and...

Newsflash...

Subaru's 2.0T variant to be used in the Forester. Guess what that means? Factory subaru turbo parts for the BRZ.

Forester to have 258hp and 260tq IIRC. Not bad for a tiny turbo'd 2.0L.

Some things that people here may not know:

FA20 has cracked rods. They are cast, not forged.
Crankshaft is nitrided, with large but narrow journals. The big end of the rod is substantially larger than the EJ20.
The head has very generously sized ports.
The head has roller rockers, backed up with solid lifters for high revving. Probably a big reason people have taken these over 8500rpm with factory stuff.
The ring lands of the pistons are substantially thicker than the EJ257 and EJ255 engines that are plagued with ring land failures.

Just some food for thought here. The crank and rods may not be super-strong. But so far the fastest cars running are making over 450whp and running close to 10s. So I think it is a safe bet to say the engine is probably close to the SR20 as far as strength goes. Ultimately the SR20 has more headroom for big power. But most of the guys buying these cars aren't shooting for more than 250-300whp.

This is where you are going to come in and try to get 600whp right?

HKS is crap anyways. You know they dont support in the US anymore correct. If not look it up. Just like all the old HKS Vcon fpro piggy backs that require a specific chip to access and tune were almost all taken out of the US because HKS said they were pulling out and wanted all their tuning products back. Some dealers said screw you. But either way, its ancient technology and only a couple tuners in the country can work and tune on their stuff because they still have the key cards for access.

F HKS. POS. I would never purchase anything from them. Overpriced junk and if they no longer want to support the US market, well then nobody should buy anything from them. Let them stick to Japan and other overseas for junk.

Over $6k for their supercharger kit, includes no tuning, looks like crap, and makes less power than anything out on the market. Even though the price is exuberantly high.

Yep, like I said, Overpriced piece of shit. HKS can suck a fat one.

I don't understand why people want to make crazy big power from this car. Its not meant to be a horsepower beast.

If you want crazy big power I mean you could just go buy a vette or an old Supra or something like that.

FTFY

Same thing applies to our light FWD cars. We could buy another car, but we like what we have an thus we modify them. Plus both of the cars you listed are huge.

I would buy a 240sx over the BRZ, but if I wanted a newer car without a huge drift tax I'm low on options on a small light RWD vehicle.

This car can do so many things right, but people are going to exploit all the strengths and weaknesses in many forms of racing. Drag racing, circuit, drift etc. But that's not all, there are features of the car that make it stand out for the hella flush crowd as well. There are wide fenders with narrow struts for wide wheels, the fenders are already rolled etc.

The hood doesn't have the washer squirters in it, so swapping hoods to something CF is easy.

The first Rotrex supercharger kits are coming out soon. First one I've seen that is decent put down just shy of 280whp on low boost.
