Subaru BRZ, Meet HKS Supercharger
Subaru BRZ, Meet HKS Supercharger - Motor Trend

He saw a real, measured increase in power from 157 to 235 horsepower (in Japanese measurements) at the rear wheels, and all with a largely stock motor.

How high is high potential? Kuwahara believes that with a complete rebuild of the new FA20 2.0-liter boxer-four, it could push as much as 400 horsepower, but he's confident he could get it to 280 horsepower with new fuel injectors, an aftermarket exhaust system, and some valve reworking.

It's cool and all but I hate to sound like a pessimist when that doesn't impress me. We can make that 400whp on our stock blocks, and worked blocks go above 700whp. It's just sad that in almost 30 years of technology and they are still excited about making 235whp out of a 2.0T

That engine has 12.5:1 compression, so i wouldnt expect crazy number

^^^ With direct injection(read: BRZ/FR-S/FT-86), high compression does not become a hindrance as people make it out to seem (which, BTW, with current "ecu" methods, 10:1 seems to be the norm for pump gas, turbo engines............which is not far off from 12.5:1)

Low compression/boost is a thing of the past!

Vadim, don't forget, I think Dynasty has a 400whp/11sec car running around that has not blown up yet last I checked (but they also "cheat" the system by using "regular" injection)

I cant agree with that Vadim... you cannot compare two different things. This cas isnt about maximum power or what is engine capable of. Nobody was making 400whp on stock motor in first year of SR20 production.

You are correct good sir. I guess my expectations for 2012 are still too high.

lol..people still want this car to make 400+ hp. i bet with 235 whp its a damn fun ride. they didnt build it to be a drag car, although the aftermarket seems to want to do that...

SC kit is clean and tight install. Probably easy install too but it just looks goofy to me.

These supercharger kits are always made to be somewhat "safe" esp. for mass production Kit in a box type bolt-on setups. So I understand your lack of excitement Vadim.
