Thread: Nissan selling $3,000 dollar cars

Im almost positive their stocks dropped pretty hard lately, bringing back the name and making newer 'old' cars would be a good idea to help them, especially selling them for that price in the states. This is what im expecting..

I think this is a terrible idea. Not from a car enthusiast stand point, but an all around business strategy.

Yes, the market for new cars under $5000 is basically untapped. Problem is the cost-benefit is minimal, if not a negative value. To develop these cars, they would need to produce factories which we all know can cost millions. Next you would need a complete finance/marketing/production team. Many jobs would be produced but the costs will outweight the profits. They would have to sell thousands of cars in the first quarter to show share holders that they are gaining profits.

But for share holders, I would be scared out of my mind if this happens. Diversifying the company as it stands at times like this in a market that doesn't have a ton of profit to be had would make me sell immediately. Just my .02 cents.

I don't think having an automobile is the best idea for super congested areas. India and China already have huge air quality problems. Lets now imagine the nightmare when more people start driving.If anything they should embrace the previous more self sufficient ways. If riding a bike to work was practical I would do it. My round trip is about 16 miles each way, and mass transit would make my trip into a 2 hour affair. If I still lived in the metro ny area. Forget about it I'd be on the train every single morning.
