I used to work at a mazda dealer so i know first hand how the mazda 3's are and they have only gotten better since 2006.

If your looking for a nice car to also maybe have some fun such as autoX and/or road course occasionally the mazda 3 really is a bargain and a killer on the track. Especially with simple cheap upgrades. But even in stock form they are quite impressive.

I agree you should look into the mazda 3's. Awesome handling, Awesome looks, very nice interior, relatively problem free and they do get really good mileage as well. I like the looks of the slightly older models before they changed it up recent. Id say any Mazda 3 up to 2010 is good again unless you like the new styling. But price wise, they are affordable, they hold their value really well and awesome performance for the dollar.

lol because its just like every other civic out there. So it has 200hp but its still heavy, slow, and not near the handling of the mazda 3.

The 2010 mazda 3 with the 2.5L and 6 speed manual trans has 170hp, 170ft lbs of torque, does 1/4 in 15.8@88mph. Just about equal with the honda civic si. So hmmm. Call me crazy all you want but If you drove both back to back I can bet you the mazda 3 feels much much better and its proven in the handling department. Some simple bolt ons and its quicker than the civic is.

The civic of that same year from the looks of it got horrible reviews, sluggish under 4k rpm, noisy, sucky fuel economy, poor braking and handling. The 3 tops it in all those departments.

I just dont like the civic. Plain and simple. No fanboi here as im not recommending anything nissan thats for sure. The 3 is a great vehicle and anyone who has driven one would say so.

04 Matrix XRS. Getting rid of my rsx to make room for the Matrix. Spacious, comfortable driving position, fold down seats, and not played out like all the other wagons/cars out there.

I hate to say this, but Civic SI is a decent whip... only drawback I hear that's complained about is all my friends with the sedans saying they have grown tired of them but are stuck because they are underwater on their loan like a house bought in 2007... in... Never mind, that's in bad taste.

The 2010 Sentra SE-R... nope

Corolla XRS... nope.

Any other choices? This mainly gonna be a pump gas and drive kind of car?

I'm on the Mazda 3 Train as well...

Well as of now I am stuck on a Mazdaspeed3... Went to see one a few days ago and I am in love. It fits the criteria and after budgeting in premium gas it really isn't going to cost me that much more.

I have decided to wait until Spring to pull the trigger unless I come across a good deal.

2008 white Speed3 is the route of choice right now.
