The Beetle gets a new coolant temp sensor. My first (and so far only) purchase from Rock Auto.

The Beetle gets the A/C recharged. This was over 3 years ago. I'm so far behind with updates. This is the beginning of us figuring out the A/C system needs an overhaul. It is also the beginning of us seriously looking for a 4-door replacement for Katie. (One of us really should have something with more than 2 doors.)

Not very good spotting, but I saw these foolish things. The last one is an Audi R8 that you can't really make out as such.

The Beetle gets a new alternator. I also replaced a busted vacuum line I saw while I was in there. Not actually sure why I took the battery out, but maybe to document the type/size and how old it was?

The Beetle gets some new rear brake pads and rotors. I like to get all of the life out of my pads.

It's time for the Beetle to enter the 21st century. We like this unit because we can load all of our music onto a tiny USB flash drive and just shuffle it. It also does hands-free phone calls through bluetooth. It has AUX inputs too for podcast s or whatever you want to play from your phone.

Keep in mind this was mid-2015 when we installed this. There are obviously other needs and options now.

I spotted a modded FD during dinner, and a nearly identically spec'd coupe to my own while driving downtown. The coupe was driven by an older black woman who said she loved it.

My wife also has a "new beetle" an 02 specifically, i recently upgraded the stereo in her car as well, question i had was did you have to cut anything behind the radio? Had a hard time fitting it and it sticks out a bit, not much but enough to drive me nuts when i drive it. There really is like no room to work with behind there.

I didn't have to cut anything, but it is tight. I must have found room for all of the extra loom and adapters somehow. Having longer wires seems like it would hurt, but it might actually help you fold things in certain ways to get everything snugged in?
