As quietly as its kept, the MAF does wear out eventually...
The Life Expectancy is supposely 150k miles...

Ive owned a MAF with over 280k miles and still going,
While Ive owned another that was completely shot after only 120k miles...

Additionally, a good tell-tale sign of a MAF going out is lower gas mileage suddenly.

FSM has voltage testing procedures.

what if you have thermo spacers? should the plenum be regrounded?

Just did this to mine as well, Thanks for the how to!!

My car has a GTi-R maf on it, came with it when I bought it, dont know if this will help anyone in the future but my wiring was as follows:

Plug had A B C D on it
A - Not used
B - Orange/Blue stripe
C - White (ground)
D - Orange

Once again, thanks for the write up, made it easy!!!

pardon me for being picky...but why did you add a connector to the unused old portion of wire that goes to the ecu? Also...I've read numerous posts regarding soldering the wire onto the ground, rather than cutting it, so that technically you have two grounds. It's a pain in the ass to do. This is what I did on the B14...Which is better?
