I went with the high temp sealant again. This time i'll let it sit before I refill, until tomorrow afternoon this time. Hopefully this fixes the drip. Also I think I didn't have the plug tight all the way. It was kinda loose.

What is the proper size of the drain and fill plugs? My shop manual is on order.

Thanks,

You want the diameter and thread type for each plugs?
Or do you want to know what size/type of tool you need to loosen and tighten the stock plugs?

Good question Ben I'm gonna assume he just wants the tool size, considering the alternative. The size tap required to tap the drain is rather large and would probably cost as much as a used transmission! Although he could be looking to find replacements...in either case, I don't know :???:

Both plugs use a square drive. For the RS5F32V trans, I usually use a 1/2" drive breaker bar w/a 4" extension and for the fill plug, a 3/8" drive. It may not be a perfect fit...especially if someone else already boogered it up. I've seen attachments made specifically for these type plugs but never needed a set.

1/2" drive for the drain like mentioned above and I have the Nissport tool (similar to this) for the fill which is very nice to have but probably hard to find these days. Instead use a 3/8" drive as mentioned above but wrap it once or twice in an aluminum strip cut from a soda/beer can to take up the rest of the slack so you don't ruin the plug like so many have done.

Ben, do you know the size of the drain hole square wrench? I tried the wrap the aluminum trick but was concerned about rounding the whole. I'd rather find the right tool.

...if you can't find any square bits, you can go this route.

I do not. It's probably some bullshit like 13mm square. Honestly the 1/2" drive of a breaker bar or similar is going to be close enough, and the hole is big enough that it being off by a little doesn't seem to matter. I'm pretty anal about these things, and I have done it this way many times without worrying about it.

It's the fill/check plug I worry about.
