p11 with high, erratic idle
I just recently purchased a 2001 g20t that has a high and erratic idle. I assumed vacuum leak but can not find one anywhere. Before I bought the car I assumed maf because it was in a warehouse where it was warm, I unplugged the maf and the idle dropped and smoothed out while I was there. Now that the car is outside and it is cold the idle doesn't drop below 1300rpm in closed loop with maf unplugged and still bounces up and down between 1300-2000 rpms which leads me back to a vacuum leak. It looks like the distributor o-ring is leaking which may have damaged the dizzy and could be the route of the issue. I will be data logging tomorrow so I can properly troubleshoot but was wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to them. I am re-selling the car when it is fixed so throwing parts at the car will cut into my profit and is not the way I do things. I prefer to troubleshoot the right way. My brother had the scanner so I could not datalog today but did go through almost 3 cans of brake clean trying to find a vacuum leak. I didn't find one so I am asking the forum if anyone has had a similar issue so I can stop wasting my time and move on to other work. I have a feeling that I will be able to narrow it down with the scan tool tomorrow but if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thank you,
