You don't really need to close off the IC end, plus a lot of boost leaks can be in the manifold itself like from the FPR, PCV, or even intake manifold gaskets. Expect to loose around 1-2 psi per second due air leaking into cylinders too. I just pump it up to 20psi, then listen and spray soapy water and watch the bubbles.
