HOW TO: Make an oil restrictor for less then $10
So there i was, starting to put things together, came to the realization i don't have an oil restrictor.

So after some discussion with my dad, we came up with this idea.

What you will need:

Drill
1/16th drill bit
loctite
#10-24 x 1/4in set screw
10-24nc tap and drill set (craftsman #52843)
0-1/4in tap handle (craftsman # 52557)

This is being done on a oil inlet fitting from custom steel, these #'s and sizes will work on anything with a 1/8in hole in it.

1) Place the fitting snug in a vise, i wrapped the vise in an old towel to protect the fitting from being damaged.

2) Using the drill bit that comes with the tap, gently run it threw the hole in it. The bit is very close to 1/8in so it wont take much, also try not to hit the other side of the fitting. Make sure to clean out any shavings

3) Now it is time for the tapping, remeber this is a very small tap, so take it easy. Only run the tap about half way into the hole (so the set screw cant go all the way threw). Run the tap in and out a few times to make sure that the threads are clean. Again clean out all metal shavings.

4) Place a drop or loctite on the set screw to help hold it in there. Make sure it is nice and tight in there.

5) Now using the 1/16th (.0625) or what ever size restrictor you need, drill a hole threw the bottom of the set screw. It is a really small drill bit so be care full not to break it, also don't want to damage the other side of the fitting when the bit goes threw. Again clean out any metal shavings.

Now you have your self an oil restrictor

Do this at your own risk, i am not responsible for any damage to anyone or anyones cars

So what is the mysterious part in the plastic bag and where did it come from? What did that oil inlet fitting from custom steel cost?

You can get the banjo fitting and the t25/t28 bolt here:

There is one built into the stock oil lines. The oil pressure should be less than 65-70psi or so for a journal bearing turbo, at the oil feed line after the restrictor as I recall. If you have a lot of smoke when you get on the throttle, and you have your oil catch can hooked up right, then you should look into getting a restrictor. If the pressure is too high the oil gets past the seals and gets into the intake.
Every situation is different, different motors have different oil pumps and oil pressure, things like what oil you are using will also have an effect.

Yeah i dont have a stock DET, its a usdm SR with a t25 setup. Theres no white smoke and no oil in my intake pipe. when WOT i dont think my oil pressure gets passed 65psi, but thats at the oil pressure sending unit that i "T"ed off from.
