Back when I did mine, I grabbed mine from Home Depot in the plumbing/fitting section

lol you can get the 1/2 npt straight barb fittings at auto zone for like a couple bucks, they come in those off brand filter packages and hose pieces and stuff like that. just look around where all the flashy v8 stuff is and radiator hose sleeves and its around there. every parts store had them.

Ben, I think you're fine with a stock T28 setup. Shouldn't be any issues with fitment with a straight barb fitting. I'm running the 30r on a protech EL manifold, so the compressor housing sits CLOSE to the return barb on the block. I'll take a close up picture later to show you what I'm referring to.

Everyone does the straight fitting, I'm just wondering if the 45 degree would be better. In theory it sounds better, but I don't want to have issues with tiny clearances for the hose.

I think you'd be fine with the 45 degree fitting as well. The only thing I would make sure of, is that the fitting is at an angle so that it's not facing down away from the block. I'd make sure to have it at least angled up a bit.

Yah, the idea was to have it point as directly up as possible. You know, because otherwise that would be silly. =]

Mine ended up pointing somewhat up just because I had to drill it out with the motor in the car, and it wasn't a real perfect angle. If you can do it with the motor out, it'll be different, I'm sure. I just know that it wasn't a factory-matched drill and tap job, so it wasn't a nice factory match with the turbo drain tube. I'll look for some pics, I know I took some. In any case, I'll bet you'll just have to mess with it, but I still recommend getting the tubes together then sliding out the drain and bolting it onto the turbo, instead of trying to get a hose onto the already-assembled fittings. You see what I mean?

Yah, I gotcha. Assemble the two barb fittings onto the hose, screw in the whole shabang into the block then when the turbo is mounted finish up by attaching the top drain/barb fitting to the turbo with the two bolts. If I have to, I'll rock this idea. Thanks.
