Where to buy turbo oil drain barb / bung? Also 90° or straight?
I'm finally getting to the point where I'm going to tap the block for turbo oil return. I've left the research on the topic until now. I got the info I needed from this thread:

I already knew where to tap and now I know what size tap, and what size drill bit. I also know what size barb to buy.

Tap: 1/2" × 14NPT
Drill bit: 45/64"
Barb/bung: 1/2" NPT to 5/8" barbed fitting

I went to Lowe's to grab what I thought would be an easy part to find and couldn't find any 1/2" NPT barbs at all. Searching amazon again gives me a few options but now I'm curious. Should I get a 90° fitting like this or something straight like this? If I should get a straight one, does anyone know where to find one that's 5/8"? I assume 5/8" is the size of the factory oil drain barb on the T25 and T28 turbos?

You could find buy one online. Atp like SE-Rican mentioned, or here's one @ frsport:

I would also look around in the phone book. Call around and if they don't have it, ask if they can recommend someone who does. I found a place here in town called Royal Brass and Hose, and now I don't know what I would do without them. They sell any type of plumbing fitting or adapter, any type of hose you could imagine, nice silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps, they even do made to order custom braided stainless lines. Best of all it's dirt cheap. Most of it is less than half the price you'd find it at a "tuner" shop.

For the hose itself, ask to go behind the counter at a parts place and look through their radiator hoses. They usually have some small diameter 90* hoses back there. Those are perfect, just trim the ends to fit.

It might be a while until I get to use the tools. I don't want to have your stuff for what might be a couple of months. I'll probably just order everything up from the online stores and call it a day. It should end up being $40 or so after shipping, not bad at all. I'd take you up on your offer if I weren't so unplanned...

I just looked and ATP turbo has a 45 degree barb for $20. Decisions, decisions.

TBH, I think it all depends on what the turbo is, and how it's positioned via manifold. For instance, my fitting comes straight out of the block, but it's really close to the compressor housing, so I need to look into a 45 or 90 degree fitting, instead.

Right now I'm in the process of looking for a 90 degree fitting for the oil feed port on a DET block. The banjo fitting still leaks, as tight as it is. Better off with a 90 degree fitting instead.

I've got a stock GTi-R T28 turbo and manifold. Things sit that close eh? I'm leaning towards the 45 degree angle from ATP turbo. If it doesn't work it's not a big deal to replace.

Ben, when I put together my GTi-R setup, I ended up having so little room that I assembled it from below (unless you have the luxury of the motor on a stand...) by putting the hose and the return tube on the block fitting (I just had a straight fitting, which I still have on the block, and would happily give to you...). I jammed the hose down so that the tube and the fitting were touching, then put the turbo on the motor. Once the turbo was bolted up right, and you have everything else ready to go, then you pull the drain tube up and bolt it to the turbo. There was never a good lined-up position for the two, there was always some slop and bend in the hose. I tried everything, including all hardware piping, SS braided line, different angled fittings, everything. It was just a pure pain. I finally went back and putting it together the way I described worked the best. Just my 0.02, but it worked... good luck!

So you're saying a 45 degree barb/bung/fitting coming out of the block won't be as good of an idea as having it come straight out? That 90 degree angle will have to be traversed somehow, be it metal fittings or bends in the hose. You wouldn't happen to have pictures would you?

How hard can this be?
