Been searching, too tired to look anymore...
Well, I got my new motor (thanks Daveracer!) and I'm putting crap back on it bit by bit... I just have a couple of questions because parts of it look differentt than my DE motor did, so here are a couple of pics... please help me identify this stuff.... I've searched all over, and haven't found anything for it... Also, the area where the pass side axle connects to the block is different, and mine would only connect two bolts to the block... are people using this or getting ahold of a JDM piece to secure the axle?

Anyway, here's the first one... it's a threaded bolt hole in the exhaust mani side of the block, is this a water feed/drain side for the turbo? It's blocked on the DE motor...

Second, the oil sender/feed area looks totally different.... There's this hole open, with threads, stock sender doesn't fit...

Finally, on my car, as I took it apart, I discovered that there was this one wire on the distributor harness that looked like the connector had been torn off... couldn't find anything missing a connector, anyone know what it might go to?

Thanks in advance!!

Josh,

The first one is the coolant line for the turbo. The second filter, there's a bolt that goes there. the oil filter housing is held in by 4 bolts and you have have 3 right now. the last one is for the AC compressor.

Yep yep and yep. 78E is Bluebird SSS shortblock. Same thing I got from Dave a while back.

The bolt towards the bottom of the dipstick tube, just opposite of the alternator mount, is your oil feed port that's been blocked off. Personally, I'd rather use that, then use the nissport adapter or something similar to feed oil to the turbine.

That empty hole is not for the sender. You are supposed to secure the filter jack to the block with it. Basically your missing on of the bolts that hold the jack to the block. You supposed to used a tee off of where you have the SS feed line to hook up the stock sender or a oil gauge if you want to use one.

You can see here the three bolts holding the jack to the block. This was going to be my feed line setup on my DE block. I had 2 tee's one for the stock sender and one for a VDO gauge above it. After the 2nd tee the SS line fed the turbo.

Also I don't know if this will help much but I've had these over on SR20forum for a bit:
They explain the turbo oil and h2o connections on the 78E block.

If you can get your hands on them a set of stock feed lines it will make the turbo install very simple.

I have ever line you need for a stock DET instal. They are on my T25 but I dont need them. You will need to get an oil feed line though since my stock one is cracked. PM me if you need them

IIRC I've got the stock lines as well. I'll do some digging. Pretty sure I have the oil feed line intact. I think the water lines are not complete, but I don't know how they were originially so I could be wrong.

Well, since I have a nice oil feed line and a good oil pressure gauge, I don't really care about the stock sender, and I have a good coolant feed line, but my coolant return on my last setup was kinda ghetto, I tapped a barb fitting into the water return neck. It worked but always worried me a little. If one of you guys wants to hook me up with the stock one, it would be cool. I have the banjo bolts for the turbo, does the block take a banjo too in stock form, or is it a barb? Thanks for the help!

Can someone tell me what the bit/thread/pitch is for the water return tap?
Thanks!
