i'm working to resolve this same issue. and have a question as to the pin out of the sensor's connector at the sensor.

the sensor is two prong. am i correct that one is ground and the other is signal. right now i believe i only have the signal wire hooked from the sensor direct to the ecu (new wire). i still am receiving the exact same voltages posted here.

i've got 3.3V unhooked and ~2.5V hooked but still have the cel. could it be that i don't have a ground run? is that what the other prong on the sensor is? should i try run that prong to ground? is that the ground that you're speaking of coheed?

thanks in advance.

Make sure the sensor doesn't have a hairline crack in it. Just my two cents. Both times I had a problem like this it was because the sensor had a hairline crack.

will do. i was reading up on some other nissan sites just now (all the sensors are the same). and i think my problem is i dont have the ground going to the sensor. since i'm not using the shielded wire (shielding goes to ground) i essentially am relying on the sensors connection to the block = insufficient (i would guess since there is a ground wire source). going to try running the ground in the morning.

Last time I checked Knock Sensors had only one wire

From what I recall they rely on the block for ground. So if your block is oxidized then I can see that having issues with a ground. Plus if any dirt gets in the way that might keep the sensor from sitting flush against the block.

Knock Sensors? $140ish from Stealerships, $130 from Greg V.

Ebay has them for $50 shipped for Genuine Nissan ones, I've been using one for 6 months now and no problems. Make sure it says that it is a Genuine Nissan one though!

heres the schematic i was reading. you're right vadim i the oem connector was one wire shielded. and the shielding is the ground (once it hits the other end of the connector it splits maybe?). but i'm not using the oem connector i'm using a random unused plug with the same plug. so i think that may be my issue. i'm going try running a ground from my unused sensor prong to the intake ground and see what happens.

edit- fixed links
