JWT ECU Not happy with Blow Thru ( IDLE / CODE 34 )
Hey guys,

Been running a JK Tuning ECU for a while with my N62 Blow Thru setup, Zero codes or Stalling but was considered a ( get you to a dyno tune ).
Needless to say ran into an issue with a MAF & FPR failing over the years and my tune no longer was a good fit. Had a JWT ECU laying around
so being I am not sure when I can ever make it to a DYNO I figured I would just get my JWT reflashed for my current setup.

  • Avenir DET
  • Blow Thru N62 w/ Turbo Tank Billet Housing
  • BOV Vent to Atmosphere.

Put in the new ECU and go for a run, Car pulls hard thru all gears and everyhting feels great... UNTIL I have to stop.. Stalls almost every time,
Once it warms up from cold idle, Stalls some more.. Also throws Code 34 and flashes the check engine light which I have read can be ignored.

Any ideas why with the Chipped ECU I had 0 codes and 0 stalling? When talking with JWT they believe its cause of the blow through and suggest
setting up like the factory had it.. Now I can do that but would require redoing all my piping and adding a bunch of extra hoses. Any insight would
be great, Have others experienced the same issues? Bummer just spent money to get re-tuned and now even though the car revs smooth and pulls
hard it loves to stall out..

Didnt think the blow thru / draw thru and BOV to ATMOSPHERE would make much diff since the BOV is after the MAF..
Really dont wannt redo my engine bay its clean simple and did work fine.

If DRAW THRU is the answer than so be it, Just need to have someone fab up some more piping... The tune thru the rev range feels perfect.

I had Lot of issues with blow thru on my car.. others have no problem at all..

Have you tried leaning the Maf?

I have not, You mean by lessening fuel? I dont have an SAFC or similar fuel controller... If draw thru fixes it than maybe thats what I have to do just strange that JWTs appear to only work with OEM style draw thru.

Lynch did you end up just going draw thru or did you switch ECU's?

JWT ECU Not happy with Blow Thru ( IDLE / CODE 34 )
I'm not familiar with your type of setup but on my Avenir DET I have my blow off recirculating back into the intake before the MAF. It's looking for the air to be there under idle conditions and it's not seeing it is what it sounds like to me. I'd post pics of my setup but it's currently under construction. I am also running a JWT computer.

Anyone else see similar results when switching to a JWT ECU w/ a blow thru setup?

Check if your ECU is fully seated, I've had a flashing CEL with a loose connection IIRC. When you had the JWT reflashed, you had it matched to your maf, did you have it matched to your injectors? Did anything else change?

imo the open to atmosphere BOV shouldn't matter as it's before the MAF and you're not releasing metered air

I can check for a loose connection but I dont think its that, Its getting the CODE 34 when read with a CONSULT.. Yeah the ECU was tuned for Avenir DET 370 / N62 etc... Car pulls hard without any issues just stalls when slowing to a red light and after cold idle wants to stall out.. With the old chipped ECU while the tune up wasnt perfect it idled fine and never threw a Code 34

If you're using an N62 maf the ECU might not like it even though it's similar. Might want to swap for a MAF that matches your tune exactly.

Sorry Wildmane it was a typo, The ECU matches the MAF It just came back from JWT i didnt buy used, Also fixed the blinking check engine... The ECU Screw for checking codes was turned ugh..

Still Code 34 which i think means bad knock sensor ( NOT DETONATION ) I think im gonna redo my piping for draw thru.. JWT states it should be that way for their setups, Like OEM
