More Boost, but Feels Weaker
Hi,

-Stock DE 9;5, S4 Cams and 3" exhaust
-Greddy 18g, Avenir mani with 38mm ext wg
-605cc's, z32 maf and JWT Ecu
-NGK7 .22-.24

On 15psi feels much stronger than 17-20psi. I read the effienciency of the turbo is good til 22-24psi. The feeling is flat, and I could easily move forward as opposed to being pinned to my seat.

What are AFR's when this is happening?

I don't have a wideband hooked, think it's a sign of running lean?

I would say so.

Is the jwt ecu tuned for that psi?

Everyone with a custom setup should have a wideband, even if you don't do your own tuning it could still save your engine..

Also you should ditch the dinosaur jwt ecu for a nismotronic so you can fine tune for your specific setup an not just a blanket tune.

You should not be upping boost without an afr reading and competent understanding of cylinder chemistry. You are risking permanent damage to engine internals. The fact that you can't feel a difference with 20-50% more air going into your engine should be a major indication....
By upping the boost you are leaning out your mixture and increasing the heat into the engine which can exponentially raise cylinder temps. You are probably leaned out so far your combustion speed is greatly reduced - in effect retarding your timing, which luckily for you is preventing some serious knock. But this is all speculation without data (mine as well pi*s in the wind).
Invest in an accurate o2 sensor and ECU that is fully tunable and up to the task and learn yourself or pay for a decent tune. Good luck man.
