Just called Greg V. and ordered one

I didn't really wanna do it, but looking at the pump gears this morning for the DE pump, I noticed that they've got a small section that looks like something kinda got wedged in between them at one point in time.

Greg says I have to use the spacer (pump drive) from the DE, can I use the DET spacer? Or do I HAVE to use the DE spacer?

I think the spacers on both de & det are the same.

Thanks. I've got a digital caliper at home, I'll measure them up tonight to determine if there are any differences.

The spacers for the det wont work with the VE. You might be able to put it on but you will end up having problems with the belts. There is a good amount of difference in length if I remember correctly. Doesn't Greg V sell the spacers any more? That is where I got mine, along with the Mossy alum crank pulley.

I haven't really looked closely enough online to determine how to tell the difference from just the block, from the exterior.

I haven't heard any differences between the two motors, just so long as they are det and not gti-r

Yeah he sells the spacers, but I have one of each so I told him I should be fine. Kinda curious, should I have used the DE spacer on the DET timing cover, then? I was just using the DE crank pulley, with the DET timing cover/oil pump...

I would think that would be ok.

The are differences in the spacers/pulleys between the motors with the different pump that is all I can say for sure. I have just seen the VE spacer which Greg V sent and DET to compare.

I think the problem people were having was the belt shredding after a while, so I guess your belt shredding or not is the test.

I waited for the VE pump to come available for over 4 months. It never did. The problem is if you can find one you should get it, otherwise you should just use the regular pump. it is easy to find and cheaper. And nobody can really say that the factory de oil pump doesn't keep up because it does just fine.

If you are revving it to over 8k then the VE would be the way to go.
