clutch suggestions and thoughts for a daily driven bone stock det
Hello dash.I drive a det in stop and go heavy and moderate traffic every day.roughly 80-100 miles a day within a 3 hour time span all together.I ran a 35k used jwt clutch/pp from the na sr and ran great.after roughly 1000 miles later, on 3rd gear,at 4k driving with spirit, she decided to slip.the car still pulled but not like it originally did like a 50 percent difference in power.I drove the car like that for an additional year and then one day on 3rd gear driving with spirit, input shaft milled and came to a stop. Switched to p11 tranny and ran a fx500 pp with a act 6 puck sprung disc.grabbed very nice.like wen I first swapped the motor.after the 500 mile break in mark,I decided to start to spiritually drive the car again.after the third day of spiritual drivin, on 3rd gear at about 4k, that brand new clutch slipped again.the feeling is the same as the first time.the best comparison I can give is pedaling on a bike with all your might and you move the gears to high for less pedal effort speed drops. Now I'm looking to get another clutch, but this time, I need a street disk that can handle the abuse of the daily drive,as well for spirited driving.I have been looking at clutchmasters fx500 or 300,jwt metal disc (If it's a puck,no thanks)pp combo, or act street disc set I'll get item number posted along with pictures as soon as I can. Either I'm having bad luck with clutches all of a sudden(drove the na with jwt clutch setup for a long time)or there's some methods of driving a sr20det that I am not aware of.any input and advice appreciated

Torque ratings off of nasoic in regards to the torque ratings. If I'm not allowed to do this let me know and I'll take it down

I previously using trinity stage 3 clutch and plate. Its a racing clutch WITHOUT spring action which look identical to FX250.
This type of racing clutch holds perfectly, my car do enormous wheelspin even on 3rd gear, BUT is hell to drive, very heavy foot clutch, you'd wish u'd never been born if u stuck in a traffic jam or just Q-ing up parking lot in a mall. Not to mention it jerks and jolts upon releasing each gear, very annoying for daily drive, embarrassing if u fetch someone like your wife or your mom, ppl hates you literately

Now, Im using trinity stage 2 clutch n plate. Its a 3 puck clutch with spring action, clutch foot felt was 50% lighter and drivable in traffic jam was no problem at all, just slightly heavier than stock clutch.

goodluck

Yeah I was dealing g with the same crap.now the 6 puck is glazed over most likely because of the hard accelerating at times and stopping overheated it.do you know if the pressure plate needs to be replaced as well.I know I will have to take the flywheel back to th e machine shop to get resurfaced.how many miles have you used your disk so far?do you have a link where I can check the specs in the setup?thanks

Pressure plate
- Full racing pressure plate has 3 leaf springs, it grips hard hence exceptional bite, non slip. But very very heavy.
- Street pressure plate has 2 leaf springs, grips well to, so far I have no clutch slip, significantly 50% lighter compared to full racing.

Clutch
- Non-Spring actioned, direct grip everytime u let go your clutch pedal. Jerks, jolts, instant grip n launch car indefinitely. Hell to drive during traffic-jams. You need to play with your clutching n practice to get it right, virtually you will never get a smooth transition at all, brutal.
- Spring actioned, works similar to stock clutch, smooth gear change, easy clutching, 30% heavier than stock clutch. doesnt jolts or jerks. works well for engine below 300bhp

so far this is what i can elaborate after using racing clutch, street clutch and stock clutch.

Maybe hit up Action Clutch and see what they can do for you. That's my plan for when I get my Avenir into my NX. Looking to run about 250WHP on a T28. 1MS kit (I believe) is what should work for me.

you have exactly the same power and the same turbine im using.....a street clutch is enough, we do not need racing clutch. unless you wish to go up 300bhp

Yeah, I am hoping to run a street-friendly setup (full-face, sprung disc), as I have no racing/burnouts/hard launches of any sort planned. Just want a car that will be REALLY fun to take out for a drive on the nice weekends.

As far as numbers I'm not exactly sure what i'll be making. 250WHP is just an educated guess based on forum research that i've done. I will be running an Avenir with a GTI-R T28/mani, Bluebird TMIC, S4HL cams, 370cc injectors, 3" exhaust, JWT ECU, and 3bar fuel pressure for now.

I am SERIOUSLY considering going tubular exhaust mani (Y2KG20), aftermarket J-pipe (possibly with screamer), and FMIC, so not sure how that will affect my numbers. Might have to upgrade injectors at that point, which would require a re-tune of the JWT ECU or a switch to a NismoTronic or some other tuneable ECU.

Hoping that the 1MS kit will still be enough for all of those upgrades. Will have to do more research and then run it by the guys at Action Clutch. I'll keep you in the loop!
