everyone I spoke too said nothing less then .0015", and that might be tight. At .030mm or .00118", that is too tight for my comfort level... the LAST thing I want is a valve to seize in a guide

was just providing info for others who are watching this thread. It would also be good to note that vet valves are different as well as stem diameter is just shy of 5.5mm

FINALLY....

one of the negatives to having an "in" at a race shop... sometimes when they have their own clients work... I wait....

If your eyes are real sharp you can see where the seat cutter contacted the chamber to provide enough clearance to add that top cut...

The good news... the intake side took its 3 angle quite well - 30 degree top cut, 45 seat cut, and radius throat cut.

The white arrows point out the area where the seat cutter came in contact with the chamber, I'll be blending these, and the area around the seat (green arrows) to get the best flow.

The less than perfect news... the exhaust seats didn't come out as nicely.

Do to the thin seat (OD to ID), and the new guide, the throat cut came out less than concentric... not perfect, but the remedy here is replacing the valve seats with a better(bigger OD to ID) seat - more material - so the throat cut can have as nice a concentric radius as the intake. This is a costly task and the benefit is minimal

The throat cut will work... and to prove it.... my client has requested me to get this on the flowbench... so next week I will have some flow #s!!

For the remainder of this week, I have blending to do.....

More to come.....

the top panel reveals a small "high spot", so breaking out the 25 micron (about 800 grit) sanding band I GENTLY blend the highspot away... now times that by 15 more... so I have some work left.

Took a moment away from the head to think about getting this on the bench. If you remember/saw my post in "all motor" - http://www.sr20-forum.com/all-motor/75696-de-head-package-budget-infotainement.html , you know my bench is prepared to accept an SR20 head.

The valve setting tool needed a little adjustment, the old SR20DE does not use dowels to local the cam caps, where the SR20VE does have a dowel on each cap.... blue arrow points out the dowel and how the modified tool fits.

So I expect to be able to get this on the bench in about a week....

more to come.....
