granular volume correction and per cyl volume matching due to inconsistency of seat depth, and additional cutting.

I had to look this up.... still unsure, unless it is a synonym for cyl volume matching.... but yes, with new valves, and machine work to come, I may need to adjust chamber volumes.

Speaking about chamber volumes... I'm waiting on a email from CP concerning the exact crown volume (+ or -) so an exact static compression ratio can be calculated. Not knowing has me mildly irritated.....

So as a distraction till Monday.... showing the last of Fridays progress

removing material from #4 exhaust port

once that material is removed, port 4 resembles 1 through 3....

and a final look @ the intake side....

Granular meaning coarse adjustment from milling then finalization of volume by "tuning" each cyl.

plugged pretty solidly.... This is the return plunger oil drain for the VVL, with this plugged, the VVL follower can't engage, because it can't push against this slug.

Slug is quite accurate, on this VVL follower, when the VVL was pushed, I had to apply substantial effort, and when I did a solid crud slug popped out...

It wasn't always the return plunger, below is the feed hole to the VVL actuator...

not going to get a lot of movement when it is substantially clogged.

The shims measure .393" (nominal 10mm). Has anyone used 10mm motorcycle shims?? I've found a few kits online

prices range from about $60 to a bit over $100. Harley sells their 10mm shims for $2.40 each, and they have half sizes too......

Harley shims have been known to be compatible and some of the cheapest available.
