W11 Avenir engine T25 Ball Bearing Turbo in a 1995 G20 Questions
Hi everyone wished to ask a question. I ended up finding a sweet W11 Avenir engine with T25 Ball Bearing turbo, going to build my 95 LSD transmission since they are impossible to find here locally in Toronto. I wanted to ask having the turbo setup as a U13 Bluebird as I still have the top mount intercooler setup from the U13 BlueBird, we checked the boost and my car with the W11 is running close to 14psi. If the stock engine and 370cc injectors JWT ECU is rated at 9psi and wastegate is working fine without issues perhaps the engine is slightly modified to be pushing out 14psi ( 0.95 bar to be exact ) I'm going to upgrade the clutch setup as my ACT keeps slipping. Has anyone had this experience with a W11 motor? Should I be worried that at the level of psi I could have issues in the long run with the motor or 14psi with a stock W11 Avenir and T25BB turbo is ok? thanks

T25s become inefficient after about 13psi. Get a fpr and max out your injectors to be safe. Topic is bacon burnt crispy.

Hi thanks for the reply man, but does that also apply to T25 BB or just the journal bearing. 370cc inj can't hold 13.5psi? not sure what you meant by topic is bacon burnt crispy? Some US lingo maybe? lol

He is saying the turbo is inefficient above 13psi. so if you are really running at 14psi you are in a bad place.

did you check the wastegate? and the actuator?

try another boost gauge maybe its wrong?

any modificaton to the "engine" that would affect boost pressure would be the wastgate and actuator and/or the turbo itself. If the turbo and its peripherals looks stock then it should be running 7psi or roughly 0.5 bar. So either the wastegate is stuck or the actuator has been changed or the boost gauge is wrong.

ok thanks man I'll ask them to check also the actuator and re check the wastegate with the boost gauge, I saw in this forum the T25BB is 9psi and T25journal bearing is 7psi stock correct? But does anyone know what is the maximum psi for a Garrett T25 Ball Bearing turbo? This turbo is from a W11 Avenir SR20DET engine where I have a U13 Bluebird top mount intercooler setup. Would having a short distance to the intercooler effect the psi? Sorry for all of the newbie questions, but I am learning as I go along, thanks again for the input

I'm getting 8-9 psi on my stock T25BB w11. You might check the actuator pressure line for cracks if you are running that much boost.

Hi thanks for the reply, I will ask him to check the wastegate and actuator pressure line. Can I ask would having a much shorter distance in the intercooler Bluebird setup that I currently have effect the psi to be this high?

Here is a pic for reference on my setup:

having short ic piping will not cause the waste gate to work differently. I would guess that the waste gate arm has too much tension on it causing you to run higher boost.

The avenir W11 actuator is a fixed length and not adjustable. So it would either be hung up, bad, or pressure line. Or maybe someone changed the actuator with a 14-15 psi adjustable actuator. I have done that before. Do you have a picture of the turbo setup before it went on the car?
