Bore and boost
Hi! I've tried searching, but I can't find a good answer anywhere. A lot of hear-say, but no definite documented answers.

Where exactly is the "normal" failiure point on a bored and boosted engine? I'm going for 88mm bore here.
Is it the deck? "mid bore" in the cylinder wall? Or somewhere completely different?

Do I really need sleeves? If so, which ones are recommended? Darton?

88mm is as big as the stock sleeve can be bored. I have seen a couple n/a 88mm builds but no turbo builds.

Heheh, yes, I've read as much. But I need to find out why and what gives out first

I would say the sleeve will fail first due to being very thin at 88mm. I would get darton sleeves and skip to a 90mm setup.

Mazworx or andreas miko would be your best source of information about a turbo 88mm build and what would fail first.

87mm is the highest you generally find turbo piston sizes in. If you do want to go 88mm I would only advise against it because the sleeves are only about 4mm thick to start with. You have very little room for error going that big. I'd guess, cracked sleeve when pushed hard.
