Test drove a 95 240SX DE-T and
What the heck? Very slow. It was the blue top(I think?) DE-T motor boosting @ 8PSI with the kouki front clip It felt OK but a bolt-on SR20DE would have taken it. I then looked up online and read that similar setups like that run high 14's low 15's. It sure looked nice though. He was selling it but it just had no power.

What are the first things you'd look into besides a vacuum leak, ECU issues? Also was weird there was no boost gauge or controller. He claims it was boosting at 8PSI. During the drive I just kinda talked about other things, its obvious there is a tuning issue here. - real nice kid didn't want to hurt his feelings. It sounded cool though. Said it was the stock Silvia ECU or whatever that it's supposed to have.

My de+t at 9psi will make the tires look for traction in 3rd gear. I love de+t motors, the extra compression really helps.

Prob just not set up right or boost leaks or something. Ask @Kyle, he got to drive mine on high boost, 17psi. Thing pulls the cup holder all the way out from the torque, lol.

lol, just read it was in a 240. I wouldn't think there would a huge difference though, extra weight.

Hmm. Really well done setup, just no power. he just texted me that he has a -11 vacuum leak. No idea what that means. I know nothing about turbos (or much of anything some would say )

-11 with no cams?? Sounds like a HUGE vacuum leak (even with cams!). Typical loss of 2-3in with S4 cams and another 1in with anything bigger than C1 cams, so this car was simply not setup right.

Also, 8 psi on what turbo?? 8 psi on a T25 is only "stock" boost level (so about 170 or so WHP on a good day..........).

Link to the car??

I'll PM you it.

And yeah it's running a T25. He's got the 97-98 Kouki front end clip which initially brought it to my attention because I love those. Here's a pic of it I took with my phone:

Lots of things to look for. Stock sidemount heat soaks fast. It will be quick for the 1st 10min lol. Look at the ignition timing too, is the CAS cranked all the way up? Compression test the motor tho if he had it at 8psi that sound like stock. If he is on stock fuel pump then don't try to turn the boost up at all.
