Great! I figured I had to be over thinking it. Being on a budget build I'll be using a 92 Q45 fuel pump which I've read OG sr20 members would use before the walbro was available. Though I have not seen any threads on install in a b13. Think this would be pretty much drop in?

What makes the Q45 pump a liability?

I have agree don't go cheap on a pump. It will cause a massive failure and lost tuning time. I use the aem 320lph pump as well.

OEM seemed like it should be good quality and I don't want a super loud pump like the walbro. Is the aem pretty quiet?

The aem pump is very quiet compared to the walboro. I actually have to listen for the prime.

Like stated, fuel pumps are pretty critical in any setup. Performance pumps these days arent that expensive.

If you are afraid of the pump noise, im pretty sure your exhaust will probably drone all of it all anyways

I have decided to go with the Tomei Type S fpr. I have read there are knockoffs floating around but buying from an authorized dealer should eliminate that problem.

The aem fuel pump mentioned is fairly inexpensive at just under $100, why is this not a more popular fuel pump than the walbro 255lph. Flows more and costs less. Is it not as readily install-able?

On a side note, I'm sure some might say my decision to go top mount intercooled is cheaping out, but I base my decision on costs to relocate battery to trunk, solid front mount, and finding the right size intercooler/piping so as to keep AC and bumper intact. It's not ideal but it is temporary. I know going turbo is not cheap but staying within a limited budget and doing things the "right" way at the start really adds up. I'll even have the 2.5" exhaust until I can budget out for a complete 3 inch. I've had an se-r for 11 years and I'm ready to have more than a bolt on de.

Walbro has 2 different models of 255HP pumps. The GSS341 and GSS342. The difference is either it has a offset inlet/outlet, or inlet/outlet on the same side. The AEM unit is universal unit that the in/out are offset. The in/out helps with install process.

Walbro 255's usually can be had under 100.00 with filter/wiring kit. The AEM unit is newer so not many people have heard about it I guess. But on a side note, if you look at all the newer 320lph+, they all seem to look alike minus the color differences
