Standard SR20VET Issues. Please help!
Still having on going problems with my Xtrail GT. Everything is stock and OEM.

Problem one, has an intermittent fault, seems to only do it after a long drive. Car will suddenly loose power, won't rev past 3k RPM unless it drop down a gear which then it won't rev past 3.5K. Can hear the turbo spooling but no power, car isn't missing, still smooth. I can pull over shut the car off and run it again and it stops faulting. It SEEMS to do it more when it has less than 1/3 of a tank. Didn't fault for a while when i swapped fuel pumps, but now its back

Problem two, also intermittent. VERY loud pinking/detonation at full load. This has only started during the last two weeks. it SEEMS to have done it since i fiddled with the fuel pump. Not a bad batch of gas as i have had several full tanks of different grade fuel.

I am still waiting on a new intank fuel filter, could this cause these problems?

Things i have replaced: Coil packs, spark plugs, Maf, Boost sensor, ECU, o2 Sensor, fuel pressure reg, fuel pump, temp sensor. I have also swaped intercoolers and all piping encase there was a boost leak. Anyone have any ideas? I am trying to sell this car so i can finish my SR20VET P10!

What code does the fault give you? I have seen something like this happen when the intank fuel pump screen/filter clogs and causes the pump to cavitate.

Scrildo's VE had a clogged fuel pump filter. It ran but then would cut off and have to be restarted. Was there any junk in the fuel tank when you swapped the pump?

Granted my engine is a VG33ER...but this maybe worth looking into.
This sounds exactly like the knock sensor problem I am having.? I know that on my Supercharged xterra it doesnt throw a CEL,but if you read the codes,it will show up knock sensor.
It makes the SC go to safe boost(2lb) and the timing gets retarded as well.It makes the truck run a little rough and lacks power.
I can turn the key off for a few seconds and reset it.It will run right again until it trips again(usually pretty soon after)
My problem seems to be heat related as it will boost fine until driving for a while.I think that when the KS gets hot it is malfunctioning.

This is apparently a common issue with the 3.3 anyway. bad design and a bitch to get to...the intake and supercharger has to come off.
It can be relocated ,but I am trying to find a spot to put it that will still work, but be able to be changed when it goes bad. They seem to only last like 40 thousand miles on these motors.
Some guys are putting them on the firewall, but that is useless as far as protecting the engine from a real knock.

The xtrail is a pain in the arse to get the codes out of it. I did manage to get codes about 2 months ago but didn't show anything about knock sensor.

A friend of mine mentioned knock sensor. I have a few VE sensors floating around, so may as well swap it. Bit of a pain since the inlet manifold will have to come off.

Its really hard to see if there was any 'junk' in the tank.

why is it hard to get the codes read? Any autoparts store usually reads them free here in the states.

not here costs at least $45 to do that. Turn key stomp accelerater way is hard. Engine light isn't on and was no codes when I did manage to get it to work

check the ignition timing we had a similar intermittent issue with a VZR would randomly loose all power after a steady drive.

We checked the timing that appeared correct and it turned out the pulley had slipped, we set it correctly and its been fine ever since.

Ill have a look, but the timing hasn't been touched at all.

Managed to get the codes out again. 4 lots of 10 flashes which is no malfunction.

Fingers crossed it is the fuel filter, unless someone else has an idea?
