Ben had the correct answer. It all depends (especially on your tune)

Street driven 400whp on Pump is very achievable for the stock bottom end Sr20 (both VE or DE). The VE makes it easier, if you are capable of utilizing the breathing properties of the head.

P.S Who said anything about me not liking anyone?? I just said you "sound" like an asshole...........I never actually called you one

Thats thing i know, it all depends on tune, but there are some limits no body had exceeded even with great tune on pump gas. I know that with bad tune you can break engine on small boost. The answers i wass looking for are like yours ... you know people doing 400 with good tune on pump. In my country theere are no such boosted engines, thats why i came here to ask for your experience and if you know such boosted stoch engines.

There is a registry on here labeled "Engine horsepower" or something another (the name slips ms). Take a look in the manifesto and it gives you a pretty good listing of mods (stock or otherwise), and what it took and at what boost level, etc to reach his/her specified HP.

Are you going to run a adapter to convert the fwd engine to rwd? or are you putting the ve pistons in a rwd block? or just swapping the head to a de/det rwd block?

if your putting the head on a det block the compression wont be as high as it would with the ve pistons.. De block should be about the same, if not a tiny bit higher cause no valve reliefs.

my stock ve's been boosted about 2 years or so, 8-12psi.

Unopened sr20ve engine, primera bellhousing and starter, welded to BMW 530d gearbox, safe to more than 600hp, ogura clutch single plate reworked to accept 3 organic BMW disks. Alot of custom work into getting this inside. Sr20det gearbox is weak, 3rd gear is not good for drifting with twin plate clutch even on 300hp, and sometimes teeths fall even with normal ceramic clutch ... just a weak gearbox. Due to the price of the BMW gearboxes here .. i get one for 50-60 usd in good working order, i bought such gearbox. rb25 gearboxes here are like 800-900 usd ... so not going to spend 10 times more, for same quality gearbox, even weaker i think. The BMW gearbox is safe for more than 700nm on diesel engines, and have pretty good gear ratio if you dont count first gear. 5th gear is 1, and also going to mod the rear subframe to accept bmw 3.15 rear diff, again for small money, and with alot of options for 1.5 way, 2 way ... all this mods are cheap here, and what you get can be compared to aftermarket nissan parts. The diff is not going to pass 500-600usd with all parts brand new inside, custom machined for 1.5way or 2 way ... with 3 or 4 plates, and this is including the price you pay for it second hand. I am tired of spending alot money on this platforms, with weak parts. I mean the tranny part of the things. Broke alot gearboxes, and finally decided i am not going to spend big money anymore, i bought s12 silvia, and i will put the sr20ve engine i have for my last project. I sold the DET bottom end for really good money ... i sold almost all sr20det parts, and decided to move to the better for my opinion engine sr20ve primera p11. I have cbr coils, but i will sell them, as they will need CDI, that cost too much money here, and maybe will put yaris/aygo coils on the ve head. I am using the original DET CAS, we already made one car here with such mods, and we made 600whp on pump gas, but the block splits between 2nd and 3rd cilinder 3 times. I am sure it could be tetonations or bad tune(person that tune the engine is not familiar with sr20 at all) but its not my business. I asked some australian guys, and they told me we are nuts to push this engine to 600hp on pump gas, the last time it broke the engine was with darton sleves, 2.2 stroked. I had some hondas before, and all they doubled their hp with no problems and with no openning, thats why i decided to try what will happen with the ve engine. i have 3 engines sitting, just dont want to break them to find something you all already know ... will cost me too much money to find the limits by myself. So i will search the board for such thread with mods and horsepower ratings, i want to run the engine on stock compression because the response, i have reworked sunny gti-r itbs, and i will grind them to 48mm plates, and also thin the shaft, because according to my calculations, this throttle bodies are smaller than the sr20ve ports. I know here good mod is BMW M ITB, but they cost wy too much So my goal is to save money, and build good reliable street s12. I dont aim for big hp, just for safe, so i am thinking for boost by gear, boost by rpm, and few other extras i can use from my ecu to make it safer. My daily boost will be not more than 8-10 psi, and i plan to push to 13-14 psi on drag days because its just for 400m run I am aware the engine will feel good at 8-10 psi, most of the engines can handle such boost, i just hoped to see if somebody used big turbo with 14-15 psi on stock engine. As you know, the bigger turbo, the colder is the air coming from it, and therefore you can put a little bit more timing. I am not aiming fast spool, but i am sure it will spool fast enough. The turbo is holset hx35 with 12cm2 devided housing, on twin scroll even lenght manifold, with 3" downpipe. I hope this long post gave you enough information about my project, and will be easier for if you can and want to help.

If you wanted to know how much torque, or how much power the engine can handle, why didn't you ask that instead?

That's some serious power you're talking about. I'm not surprised you sleeved the block, but I am surprised you guys are boring them out to 2.2L? No wonder these folks are splitting blocks?

These all sound like good ideas.
