Thread: exhaust silencer

in my b14 i have a vrs 2.5 system with the magnaflow resonator and a magnaflow muffler and the ve is still very very loud. I have a ebay butt plug in there and it works decent.

in my turbo civic I have a butt plug that has perforations like a resonator and is warped with some kinda fiberglass exhaust sound deadening and it works awesome. not sure where to get one like that because it came with the muffler which came with a catback for a different car. total night and day between having it out or in.

cause my frirnd had the 3" VRS exhaust on his nx with no cat and it was crazy loud. He addrd the vibrant resonator and a twin loop muffler and it git real quiet.

So my 8 dollar ebay silencer came in and I installed it. All I can say is wow. It cut the sound into less than half.

I bought the stainless 4" to 2" silencer on ebay, item number: 121044141279, in 2013.
Much quieter with the silencer.

Finally have dyno results, back to back runs, full 3" exhaust with & without silencer.
Peak losses - only 2hp 2 lb-ft. A bit more
Only lost on the big cam, almost identical on small cam.

Nice, I'm still using the same silencer now on my turbo car and it helps a bunch

Also the turbo quieted things down a bunch
