The compression can be whatever you want it to be, The Nismotronic will be able to dialed in on the spot on a dyno, this means you wont be having to get your chips burned when you want a change or wiring in the a cheap fuel tuner. The tune wouldn't cause your car to spin a bearing. use a DE crank that would be fine for any application. Stock rods would be fine for power applications. I saw a stock VE+T push 400whp last week without issues thus far. You can use DET used internals or if you wanted to get serious you could do CP pistons and eagle rods, but if you wanted to get out of it cheap. More than likely if you dont want more than 400whp then DET rods and VET pistons would do you fine...

Yeah ive always wanted to go the right way with an ecu because this doesn't cut it! Hmm idk im leaning towards doing cp pistons and manley rods cause theyr only 800 on ebay. Or I can throw some together through someone else cause the compression on the ones on ebay are only 9.0. And lynch no I dont have a wideband. However I installed a neoafc on my buddies car and those things are awsome

man, basic ecu + no wideband... no offense but its no mystery why your engine didnt last.

you could take that money, buy another ve + nismotronic SA then slap all your boost parts on and have it tuned for the the price of building everything and still needing the ecu and tuning.. you should be able to make great power without hurting the engine if its tuned properly...

oh 1 more thing, with modding turbo cars and such its my opinion you should always have a wideband.. or atleast for the initial tune..

I hear yah, well actually I found a great price on a 20v so right now im debating on grabbing that and selling the parts out of my ve.

But id rather dump money into something that will hold like a beast and then just wait and get a ecu too

20v has a little more compression then a normal ve.. not sure if id boost one of them or not.

Now that's some high comp. Lol also found this headgasket for really cheap. The vet gaskets are metal correct?

if your going to stay turbo, i'd try for something in in the 10:1 range..

i've always wanted to try these pistons out if i built an engine, they have valve cutouts but im not sure if they are in the right place or not..

Je Pistons 309212 NIS SR20DET 10 1 Kit Set of 4 Pistons 309212 Je | eBay

i guess as long as you dont run larger then stock cams it wont matter though..
