But why go to a step deck , larger stud , sleeved motor , possible o ring when a stock bore will be fine and make more than enough power with a good set of headstuds to me even if you went with $400 l19 studs is a lot more logical than spending at least $2000 to do all the required machine work and parts.

I got this entire set up dirt cheap, budget build if you will.

Stroker Crank...trade + $150
Bearings... $120
Used Arias 8.5/1 86.5mm...$100iirc
Used Eagle Rods... $100
Machine Work... $75 overbore
$75 mill head
$150 balance and polish crank

Time to see what kind of power a motor built for less than $1k will make I'm more worried about seeing what the stroke does than anything. I'm looking at roughly a 1.5 rod ratio with this set up. The idea is to build this bottom end and slap everything from my current motor on it and see what it does on the rollers at the same boost levels. I'll build the motor and put it in after this season is over. I'll try to keep this updated.

The only thing I don't like is the compression ratio but you don't street drive it so it won't really matter

8.5/1 on a stroker, are the valves still going to clear? I'm adding 3mm to each end of the stroke which should raise the compression of these pistons considerably. I don't know the math to figure exactly how much or if they'll even work at all until I get the block together and decide on cams. I've got some BC2's at the shop and some C2's as well as some factory highport cams. We'll figure something out.

I know that the factory rod length is 3.365 and that most stroker kits utilize this rod, I'm not sure what they're using for piston pin height or if they all use custom pistons...

Anyone know the compression height of the factory DET pistons??

Well if the pistons have the raised pin height for the added stroke then I would assume they would have been marked for 8.5:1 CR w 92mm stroke. If not it'll raise from 8.5 to 9.3ish..

Also you'll actually gain p2v clearance because the piston will now spend less time at tdc relative to the cans.if you catch my drift.

If these are std pin height pistons then you'll need a shortened rod. . I guess you didn't really specify on the list
