Which DET is better?
Which is better? Pulsar det or an bluebird or avenir? I heard the pulsar dets are stronger but have less .2 less compression. But the avenir and bluebird are newer. Anyones thoughts? Which is better to get?

This has been covered numerous times but fuck it.

GTIR is stronger. Will take upwards of 500hp all day with proper tuning. Has ITB's. Not the best design but can be quite beneficial with standalone tuning.

Avenir/bluebird are easier to come by/find parts for but they will not withstand major power for as long. Will still take abuse but is weaker than a gtir.

Gtir is a bastard motor. Only offered in 1 car. Numerous parts are unique to that motor and that motor only. Great for big boost as long as compressions checks out.

Etc etc etc

No problem. What I was saying was the GTIR motor is perfect for big boost. The avenir/bluebird's are great for the t2 series turbos and even mid level t3's.

They both have advantages/disadvantages. Really all depends on goals/what condition a used motor is in/how well it was maintained...that kinda stuff.

If you're doing anything over 350whp on a daily driver I'd suggest a built engine for reliability.

Sooo 54C bottom end + VE head = ?

Better yet, GTiR crank and rods in a low compression VE-T

Gir is a pita sometimes to get parts for. Either will hold 500whp stock block pretty easily. Id just get a regular det and boost the piss out of it.

Agreed.... The gti-r engine is a great engine but is somewhat a novelty in a street car. It has some cool features but the trade off is that parts can be a pain in the ass to get. An avenier is much easier to get parts for and as long as you change out the stock turbo to at least a gti-r will be plenty for a street car. You can also get a newer engine that is less likely to be beat on going with an avenier.
