the rebuild is not hard. Just make sure to have it balanced properly.

I couldn't do that man. I don't know jack about how to take a turbo apart, unless how to rebuild it.
I'd waste my money if I tried to do that and I don't have it to waste right now.
I'd like to just buy a working turbo to slap on my car but im not having any luck on that part at this time.
I need a t28 IDC what size it is as long as its a t28.

GTIR T28 with the T04b compressor housing all day.

edit: both of your turbo needs a new compressor wheel.

Plus they are off balance so they would need that also. A whole lot of shaft play in these two I have they are trash in my eyes lol.
Much rather get a working turbo that slaps right on.

First of all: These are not ball-bearing turbos. Both of these turbos are GTi-R T28 with journal bearings. These are easily serviceable by many places. G-Pop is the way to go probably.

The first turbo you have pictured looks to be junk. You could send it off and have the journal bearing replaced in it, but it would also need a new compressor wheels (and likely turbine wheel). At that point, the housings themselves have likely taken damage and would need to be machined smooth again. Not worth it a penny.

The second turbo (one you removed from the car) is the only one I'd look into getting rebuilt. As Keo noticed, Chris, this turbo has the T04b compressor housing on it. I can't see the compressor wheel close enough in the pic to state whether or not that needs replaced, but when I had it there was no fin damage at all. I would contact G-Pop Shop and see what it'll cost to have them do a rebuild for it. The rebuild kit needed for that turbo from their website is here.

You have a great turbo with the t04b housing matched with a gtir t28.... Call gpop shop and get a worse case scenario on the turbo. Looks like you would probably need a new compressor wheel but the exhaust wheel seems to look ok. The Greddy 18g is a great turbo that will bolt onto the stock manifold with a little adjustment. Good to around 400whp or so and for the most part will bolt right on. You will need to change the intercooler piping a little and possibly the downpipe but just minor adjustments. Hands down it is one of the best turbos for the money. The T28 that you have with the t04b compressor housing is another great turbo and will build boost quicker than the 18g but the 18g is not what I consider a laggy turbo.

thanks for the clear up on the turbo man!
Ill ask them again and clear it up to them as to they didn't know if it was or not cause I didn't know the part number of the turbo as to the plate came off.
So thanks man.
