Thread: sr20det limp mode? any ideas? thinking the ecu is toast?

Hey guys. I'm a new bluebird u12 Sr20det owner bought the car about 3 weeks. Only drove it for 10minutes (car is in limp mode) wont rev past 1500rpm after it gets to operation temperature. So far replaced: fuel filter, fuel pump, all fluid is new, new plugs, wires, clutch, thermostat, Maf, heater core, o2 sensor . To try and find the problem. Ecu reads code 55 (no codes/no malfunction) it has the catylitic converter light on. But had a test pipe in place. Starting to think its just the ecu? Getting to the point that I should just sell it. Any ideas?

Have you changed the coolant temp sensor?

I haven't been able to locate it. Is it on the back of the engine?

I can't remember on a de/det. It should be on the passenger side behind the motor. It close to the temp sensor for the gauge which only has one wire. On they are right next to each other.

passenger side behind cylinder head, both are side by side. Above the oil filter.

Try and unplug it before you go buy a new one. The factory computer should just richen stuff up. If it runs the same after it warms up then it's prob not it then.
