HELP! DE VS GTIR rods diameter?
Hello everyone!

need quick answer..

does DE rods and gtir rods are same diameter?

I'm machining the crank but i didn't pull off the whole engine. so can I use DE rods to set clearance for machining the crank?

Hope you can help

Thanks!

@Keo aren't they the same ? I'm not talking on the rod bearings what I mean is the conrod settings on crankshaft the circle inside. where you use a plastic guage to check the clearance when you want o install it. I didn't remove the conrod because i don't want to remove the whole head. so i want to use the de rod for the clearance setting for the crank. or i better send the half journal of the gtir.

i already have the gtir rod bearings so i'm pretty sure it's 19mm wide .

yes both DE and GTIR rods have similar diameters.... just use the crankshaft rod bearing grade to determine your required bearing thickness.

if youre going to polish the crank, have the machinist do a before and after measurement so you can decide if you will need a thicker bearing.

thanks man, I already have standard size ACL Bearing for GTIR. now seems that cylinder 3 and 4 has the problem so would it be advisable to machine it to get back on standard size? or i will just make the 1 and 2 machine to make balance on 3 and 4 and use a oversize .25 bearing? problem is it takes a month to reorder again for new ACL Bearing for GTIR ...

really appreciate your inputs.
