That is good idea, I will check this!

I now try to remember, when pop off the shims, and maybe the pop off happend, when the engine is not enough warm.
I always test, when water and oil warm, but maybe the cylinder head, and valve guides not full warm, and when I start to go with full boost, the exhaust valves turn to be thicker, and seized a little bit.

Many times, when I drive to the competition on road, and there I start to practice slower, the car work fine during all competition, when I test it near to service, shims pop off after few km.

This is my SR22VET S14. I think, this setup will very good for drift, if this shim problem, a dialing will solve.

That could be the problem also.

Car looks nice.

Nice setup, but something has to be binding or valve lash is no good. Granted, my VVL never sees over 9000rpm, but it will sit on the limiter for several seconds without issues. Something is causing the shims to pop out. Are you sure they are N1 cams?

I think the valve guides could be a little too stiff, and when the engine runs really hot the valves are binding. Be careful with that.

He is running a t4 twin scroll 1.06. Thats going to flow plenty! more than the gtx 76mm compressor will put out! IMO its a perfectly matched set up!

We are not talking the restrictive t3 twin scroll set up here

In this weekend was the last competition. I always wait for much more than usual to warm the engine, and both day work fine without problems.
Now the OS-Giken OS5 set brokened.
Now I look for 2nd gears for OS5.
Saturday night we installed straight cut dog type gearbox.

So thanks for the help, I hope it will usefull. We will disassemble the engine, and check again valves, cleances, valve guides.

How much valve clearence are you using?

Total flow with the T4 1.06 is pretty close to a .82 T3 open housing. Not really that big. the inlet is huge, but the volute shrinks down quite a bit.

if valve clearence its correct then your problem is at valve springs!
i had the same problem with bc springs at 9500rpm and 25psi on 6865 turbo, and exhaust shims popped out easilly!

i installed last level of supertech springs (SPR-H1021D-VE) and solved this problem!
