Loose the log, had the same issues not to long ago, went to a tubular and problem solved! Only way to "somewhat" fix the problem with the log is switch the cams 5k or later

Before you jump into a bigger turbo try to make sure that is your issue i personally disagree with the turbo causing the problem i mean unless you are boosting over 18-20 psi which i doubt check voltage at fuel pump, make sure your tps is reading the right voltage i have had issues similar in the past with a walbro that would cause bogging because of low voltage, i had to hard wire it with a relay and problem was solved my car wouldnt boost more than 10 psi with out bogging once the fuel problem was addressed the car could do 18 no problem in other words this may not sound related but when your vvl is engaging you are drawing more air/fuel and if your fuel pump is running low voltage you will bog out because it is compensating enough.

i just read your at 5.5 psi the turbo is definately not the problem try to bring it up to 10 psi but before that make sure you have strong voltage at the fuel pump when car is on, and make sure your tps is reading good voltage.

Another thing you have to consider is the fact that you are running sr16 cams maybe when the vvl is engaged your tune is not crisp enough and is causing the bogging, i still don't see this being highly possible but it is possibility, again 5.5 psi you should be running okay, what car are we talking about? it wouldn't be a 98+ ?

94 b13...it has an aeromotive stealth 320lph..it was running perfectly fine all motor for months before the turbo setup.

still check your voltage problems like this only show when your set up is demanding more fuel, there probably is nothing wrong with the pump just might not be receiving enough voltage.

So we have made some changes/improvements to the setup...we have gone with a t4 turbo, tubular manifold and just a more efficient flowing setup. Hopefully this will solve the problems we had before with the choking...there are still a few things left to be done but we are almost there..here are a few pics

Looking good

The tune could have been part of the issue of the original problem especially if it went dead rich. that should have told you that it needed adjustment (tune wise) but yeah log mani and that small turbine housing and those cams are not a good combo.

Setup looks much better and you should see a good improvement over the log and small turbine t3

So we got this thing running...happy to say the choking issue is gone...we took one of the springs from the wastegate so its only boosting 4lbs right now but it feels really good...still got the downpipe to complete so its really loud..i am really happy with how early this big turbo spools, full boost right around 4k...cant wait to get it tuned..theese motors seem to love the bigger turbos...how do you guys think the stock bottom end will hold up to 15lbs...thats what i'm aiming for( or should i be more conservative) and what would be a good number to expect at that boost level...
The new setup is
Garret turbo t4 .81 back
Tubular manifold
Sr16 cams
3" exhaust
