i have done a set for a friend of mine about 4yrs ago and he beats the hell out of the car when he drives it, the gears held up so long i forgot i even did it for him. So yes, cryo treated gears help as long as they are done in the proper process.

I agree with most of the members, get the LSD tranny

true but the physical atributes of the g20 transmission being better off the bat, there really isnt any way to make it strong as or stronger than the lsd g20 trans.

and a LSD is 100% going to be needed, so its not just about the g20 having better integrity but more like helping with the much needed trction

if you dont go p11 or b15 ull most likely spend more then 2 grand fixing tranny related problems in the future if you dont give up on the car. and think of all the aggrivation.

b15's have gone for 800-1000 with lsd and cheaper with out lsd. but you dont want a b15, b15's come with a shorter first and second. what that means is your car is going to be slower on the street, its going to bake 1st and 2nd like no ones business.

p11's usually go for a bit more, i spent about 1300 to get my p11 to my door.

stratton.

I had a stock b13 trans in my car, took out the gearstack, bought a whole new gearset with the 5th gear popout kit from Courtesy, had the new gearset cryo treated and shotpeened. Within two months I had 5th gear popout, another month after that 5th gear was nearly useless unless I kept my hand on the stick. Within a month after that, 4th gear self destructed under half boost and half throttle (something like 7psi and 50% throttle). So, I'm with stratton. All that time and energy was wasted and the trans went anyway. I'm currently running a b14 trans because it was super cheap and available the day after the trans went, but as soon as it pops I'll go p11 for sure.

IMHO the b13 trans is definitely doomed and you should just make plans ahead of time to replace it with something better.

Yea, it seems like the tranny problems here are a design issue, not a material problem. Go with the newer trans.

tekkie p11 is your best bet and top it off with a nismo if u can. I had a b15 LSD but sold ur a year ago. If you really want beefy, 20v bell housing and qr6 spd. Gear stacks are monstrous. Also u can put a maxima FD for turbo use.hope all goes well.

Run an open diff and skinnies up front and you can run any tranny you want.

Yea but then why not make LESS power and keep the trans you've got? TONS of power with skinnies and an open diff will be way slower.

You had something else wrong. Once fitted with the proper replacement parts and assembled properly, 5th gear in a B13 tranny will never fail (pop-out). Ever.

The fact that 4th gear blew at 7psi also tells me something was very wrong with your set-up. Your experience is extremely rare and likely due to assembler error.
