The BIGGEST issue you will have is not making the power, but keeping all the liquids (and essentially the entire engine itself since you essentially need a much more potent (read: more heat generation) explosion to make power) cool that big power generates is the KEY!!

These cars are simply not known for their highly efficient cooling system, and any trackday junky with a heat blower hanging the end of the block will tell you; KEEP TEMPS UNDER CONTROL!!

Making 400whp (especially if using an efficient VE setup) is the easy part. Knowing how to keep fluid and under temps to a proper level is where all the brain power needs to be focused.

Its just a tad more difficult, but when the factory does most of the hardwork for you (read: factory equipped turbo cars) its fairly straight forward for the most part.

this is exactly the problem. shoot, even in this thread, i'm not sure who is talking about 400wheel on street and who is talking about on track.

I did that to a few NX brake rotors. So far the Brembos have held up awesome. The only issue I have on the track is the rear brake bias. I am using an Altima MC and the rears will lock up before the fronts.

You could make a duct to cool the brakes. Look at brake ducts on some race cars for inspiration.

To keep all the fluid temps in check your going to need an oil cooler, trans cooler, and a big radiator each with a temperature gauge so you can monitor the temps.

There are plenty of SR20's here in NZ that are 400HP which are daily driven, driven to track days, competing and then driven back with no issues.


in for details on the 400 wheel guys there. i know rezlo (south africa) makes good power with some sort of gt30ish setup but hes also using bug juice. all i heard about it was 330whp by 4500 (which means a little better than 330lb/ft)
