catch can for a RR 01 sentra
Is it necessary to have a catch can on a boosted 01 Sentra RR? Just seeing if i need to do anything to my intercooler piping before i have it welded up. They say if you have a RR valver cover that it already has a catch can built in. I have the original hose that goes from the motor to the valver cover but there is one that went to the original intake that doesnt go to anything. I think i can just put a breather on? Im worried about the metered and un metered thing. Will be blow through setup.

You will not want to use a catch can other than the factory one. You should also plumb it like factory as well. The factory catch works well.

Okay so what do i do with the other side of the valve cover that was used to go to the factory intake just put a breather over it?

No. there should be a hose routing it to the intake on the turbo's inlet side. after the maf, on a pull-thru setup.

Setup will be blow through not pull through.

Then you can route it anywhere, but the best way is to route it to intake before turbo, then delete the pcv valve so as to not pull in unmetered air at idle when the pcv is open.

You can keep the pcv hooked up. You just run pretty lean at idle.

How do i go about deleting the pcv valve?

I've been through this on both my SRs. The RR DE doesn't have a catch can and doesn't need one. The valve cover is baffled so it separates the oil from the gases.

As for the PCV valve, I believe the RR style is different than all other SRs. It has a floating valve in a grommet type fitting. I've never taken mine out so I'm not sure if there is a thread pattern in there. The idea would be to cap the entrance to the intake manifold and install an open fitting in the valve cover in place of the PCV valve. You would ideally vent this fitting, and any other vacuum hoses coming from your valve cover, to a catch can/crankcase breather of some type. This will allow for more crankcase ventilation under boost.

Also, you will get flamed by many people for deleting the PCV valve, but in my experience it's not needed and is only there to draw in crankcase gases to be burned in the combustion chamber at low throttle and idle. The benefit from deleted the PCV valve will be a rock solid idle, and less oily gases entering your engine, while creating an extra port for your crankcase to vent under boost.
