s4's kinda pointless with t25...
So I slapped a t25 on my det for now and have just been driving it daily at 7lbs. I also threw some s4's I had laying around in. I'm kinda regretting it now. Sure the cams push the power band to the left a bit and sure they are supposed to help top end. But the appeal of the t25 to me is that huge tq band down low. You can kinda feel the turbo fall off at seven as opposed to it falling on its face at seven. Its almost, imo better to have stock cams with a t25. Or some cams that compliment/boost the midrange better.

I mean if the t25 can max its self out on stock cams what's the point in adding aftermarket cams to take away the appeal of the t25s midrange? I'm looking for the most midrange possible for daily driving.

i never felt that way about s4s in a t25. the s4s helped it make more power up top for longer. would u want to sacrafice, top end for nothing but bottom end ?

end of the day the s4's make more power, then oem cams or s3's plain and simple.

your prefrence is the deciding factor.

What?? What other mods do you have? I used to drive a friends T25 equipped Lowport DE with S4s a few times a week and driving the car on the street felt much better than when it had stock cams.

think you need some tuning and more boost

Put it on a dyno. We didn't feel a power loss down low when we did S4's. Car shined up top. I think a tune is calling!

I prefer s3 cams with a T25 but that is just my opinion. They compliment the mid range better and since the t25 will run out of breath up top no matter what cams are in it, I prefer the mid range gain with an improvement in the top end as well. I have driven t25 cars with both and I like the s3 cams better. It is a personal preference as the s4 cams work well in the t25 as well but with that small of a turbo you can't take full advantage of what the s4 has to offer. Just my opinion so take it for what it is worth. I haven't been around sr20's for much more than a decade so I'm still a newb. They do make move the powerband higher and compensate for the lack of top end of the small turbo but I still prefer the s3. Both are better than stock so I think that you may need a new tune.

This is something I've always pondered myself. It would be interesting to see 2 back to back dyno runs on stock and s4 cams with both on a base map. I've wanted cams for the longest time, but I'm always broke anyway so I never got to feel the difference for myself.

S4s make more power than stock from idle to rev limit.

if you want midrange, you need a disco!
