I've heard there may be grinding of the bellhousing required....
As for the specifics, I'm sorry but I don't have them.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna see if I can find some more info on this!

when you start making good power, it is hard to find something that holds up. Especially around the 400whp+ mark. Our clutches just weren't designed for that, and are very small.

With a dowel conversion you can use the pp from a 4G63 from the older eclipse models. I had a pp built up using a 2400lb diaghram. With a slight pivot adjustment it got tons of clamp. Instead of ceramic material i opted for a semi-metallic puck with a fully caged sprung disc. It worked well, but that diaphram was stiff.

There are two ways to get the proper holding power: increase clamping force, or change the friction coefficient. Sintered iron works well, but it is normally packaged with a solid hub. And the engagement can be obnoxious, jarring, and noisy.

Good info, Thanks. The FX500 just sounds a bit too harsh. Its a lot easier for me to replace a clutch then it would be for me to get another p11 tranny. That 4G63 pp conversion sound interesting! Another thing I've never heard before!

If you wanna save that trans, keep the clutch as the weak link. get a pp with tons of clamp, then use a ceramic 6-puck disk... on that won't lose springs.

Is that the clutch that came in when I was over?

I had a comp clutch single disk and didn't like it and it slipped on me. I then switched to a fx500 and it never looked back. That's why I purchased a clutchmasters twin disk for my new setup.

I have a FX500 now. I will give an opinion on it soon.

The FX500 has a close to stock pedal feel, but it does have a somewhat on/off switch feel to it. You get used to it within the first several takeoffs however.

Slight chatter, but if you have a diff that locks up fairly hard fairly early on, some of the chatter will be coming from there as well.

No long term review however. But so far, so good

When it comes to the twin disk. Clutchmaster/Competition Clutch. Same exact clutch setup. Both 7 1/4" disks, same style pressure plate, mid plates, and disks. All parts are swappable one between the other.
