Fully divorced wastegate housing - rare?
I recently saw someone mention this post of Andreas about a fully divorced internal wastegate housing.

http://www.sr20-forum.com/174571-post134.html

I have an Garrett GT3076R where the divider comes all the way to the top.
Tag number on turbo reads. Garrett Allied Signal, Made in Japan
DL 0105J 700177-11. The exhaust housing is marked AR.86.

My GTi-R manifold and J-pipe fit this turbo perfectly.

Is this rare? Anyone else have one like this? I'm still trying to learn something about turbos so I'm not sure what I've got.

its not rare

u can buy it from GCG, ATP, MTQ

normally see them on after market T3 mid sized turbo chargers ( which is what u got )

nothing special ...personally i prefer to run an external gate

Thanks, now I understand why it doesn't seem common, it's just a custom housing.

I don't want to mess with a modified manifold for an external wastegate but from what I've read this type of housing solves the problem with boost creep. I'll probably look into the Jpipes that TurboFX is making in the vendor section. That may be the ideal match for this set up.

I'd prefer a GT2871R if I can find the same style divided housing. Thanks for the info, now I know where to start looking.

just make a bracket to hold the internal gate shut with tension on the lever and run an external gate.

I'd rather be single with a big pipe vs being divorced living in the same house

Your previous post seemed to indicate this wasn't stock from Garrett, but had to be special ordered from ATP etc....

Did you mean this housing came on this turbo originally from Garrett?

yeah its a standard Garrett housing

u just dont see them much because when people buy the 3076 they get it in a T3 external gate
but when u buy it in t3 internal gate thats the housing it will come in

Now I'm really confused, Are you saying I have a T3 housing?

I thought I had T28 turbine housing, it bolts right up to my GTiR manifold and J pipe?
Also because of the comments by Andreas Miko (thread listed in my first post) regarding the availability of fully divided T28 based turbine housing for the GT3071R and GT3076R.

What started me wondering was Gomba's thread (below) and his questions because his Garrett 2871 wastgate housing wasn't fully divided.

http://www.sr20-forum.com/turbo/56397-welding-external-wg-onto-stock-manifold.html

I see there are fully divided T3 housings, like the picture you posted.
I'm once again wondering about T28 turbine housings coming fully divided from Garrett.
