Thread: Clutch?

I don't know if this is the right section and my search isn't working at all. I plan to go with a t28 setup and about 220-250 whp. My question is which would be the best clutch/flywheel combo for this. It will be street driven and brought to the track. Any info would be greatly appreciated

It doesn't say on the site, but it should be good up to about 250 WTQ which you're likely not going to get close to with your power goals.

This will handle anything I can throw at it with a t28 I imagine? Thank you for the help

No, it is possible to out-grow that clutch on a T28 if you make over 250 WTQ, which can be done on a T28 turbo with a healthy amount of boost. If you're planning on making over 250 WTQ in the near future you should consider other options.

Might I recommend staying under 250 WTQ though? You can still make good power at those torque levels. I make 303 WHP and 237 WTQ on a T28 at 10.8 psi for example. Dyno chart.

The reason I say that is because there aren't many (any?) good choices for daily drivable clutches that can hold more than 250 WTQ on our 225mm clutch setups. All of the available options really are track oriented solutions with rough engagement and poor life expectancy on the street. (Unless you pay out the ass for a twin disc setup designed for the street.)

That would be a nice amount. What setup do you have? I know I had a spec stage 2+ in a 08 Specv but I didn't really care for it
It's not going to be a daily but I would live to drive it on the street every now and again.

I run the clutch setup that I linked you above (as do plenty of other smaller turbo guys and N/A VE guys). I also have a Fidanza lightweight flywheel if you're curious.

I think I shall go with this in that case. You didn't like the Jwt flywheel in the kit?

The kit comes with a JWT pressure plate, not a flywheel.
I am using the JWT pressure plate.

Keep in mind, there are other people on the forum who might recommend some other type of solution for whatever reason (price, torque holding, weight, whatever). I am trying to give you the best advice I can. Others may disagree.

Well if it works for you I don't see why it wouldnt work for me. You are makin more power than I plan to on The same setup.
