smoke pouring out of breather
well today something pretty suck happened well as i turned on to the high ways i goosed it a lil bit to get up to speed well ran out three gears next thing i know the car was no longer building boost pressure and saw no smoke from rear so got to work Im a diesel truck mechanic and pulled the filter off and the compressor blades ate themselves but now the motor is smoking heavily from the breather which is and indication of rings or ringland i mean is it possible to have exhaust pressure back feeding in to the turbo oil channel back into the crankcase cause excess pressure or did i jst grenade everything ill take a look more into it in morn

Prolly the rings or the piston. Just had one melt down and it was the piston halfway melted and rings fried. Do a compression test and see what cylinder is bad.

Imma gonna say the ringland/s failed.

Yeah only time you would see smoke pouring out the breather is if you were getting excessive blowby, more than likely it was just a complete catastrophic failure as far as the turbo is concerned. Something may have happened that it overboosted during the run and blew the turbo and cracked ring lands.

Sucks man hopefully the turbo was the only thing damaged by the whole incident.
