This is the closest thing I can find right now that looks like what I'm talking about.

Basically you make it so the air doesn't have to change direction at all, giving it a pretty straight shot from the throttle body, through a sizable plenum if you'd like (shaped like a wide cylinder for example with the air running through it the long way), then to the runners, and on to the head. It would be unbelievably long though, so really not feasible on any real setup.

I've seen versions that take up much less room, but it is hard to find pictures of.

Okay if you look at the still image used as the preview for this YouTube video, you'll see how it could also be done and save some room. Although now that I look at it closer, it's a bit of a log-type manifold... It coould be done better IMO, but that has to be better than our typical aftermarket manifolds with their extreme 90 degree angles and whatnot, no?

I can't find the time-stamp of where that footage happens in the video though. =/

Okay looking even closer at that picture, I think I assumed the air traveled from the bottom up to the top of the engine where it dumped into the head. I'm not so sure which direction the air flows anymore. This might even be a compound turbo setup by the looks of it?!

I have 7.5" runners on the one I made for my 20v head. I wish I had a better head flange but the milled factory one worked out ok.
