opinion needed
Hey guys need a quick opinion.

Story:

I have a DE block that I tapped for turbo, put in DET rods and pistons along with new bearings etc etc...

Problem:

The guy that was supposed to port the head did a not so great job and now one of my friends is trying to see if he can make it better.

Question:

I'm losing motivation and what not on this, so I'm going to be putting my spare NA motor in for the time being but for the other motor I'm kinda thinking of either doing a VE head swap on it. Also, I'm thinking just redoing the block altogether with eagle rods/CP pistons etc etc....

What would you guys do in my case.

Thanks in advance.

What power are you looking to make with the car ?

Just something in the 200-300 range.

Car will be mainly for autox and a little drag racing until the circuit gets done.

If you want a 300hp setup for auto x I think a stock ve motor with a t28 setup will be perfect for you

To stay cheap, I would say the det internals should be fine for that power level. If worse comes to worse you can get another good condition de head for pennies. I agree with a t28 turbo for that power goal.

Matt,

What's wrong with the head? Who ported it for you?

Ported it wrong, there were some parts on the intake chambers that weren't really done too well( forgot exactly what it was )...

One of the guys that races autox did it, one of my other friends has the head now and said he can prolly fix it.

Once this weather clears up, I'll be painting my engine bay and dropping in my spare motor just to get it running again.

It's disappointing but it'll have to do for now. I miss racing that car.

Yeah, it sucks...but you live and learn. What kind of spare motor are you dropping in? SR or GA? I hope to see your car out at the track soon
