Go .82. the .63 spools just like it, but loses 20whp-30whp up top.

thanks!

what about gt35r - ? or gtx35r - ? it revs faster and can give more up top whps?

Try the PTE6262, it's a good turbo and spoils fast even with the journal bearing .82 back and makes big power.

aside from not feeling the full strength of a gt35r at 10-12psi are there any negative mechanical effects to running a turbo below its efficiency?

There are no downsides. Response won't seem to hit as quickly, and the powerband will seem more progressive. Much like NA that is tuned for high rpm. 10-12psi will still make 350whp easily with a 35r and the right manifold.

I don't even think you will have any surge issues at 10psi either, but staying low in the efficiency range does create a little more heat, but at that low of psi it will be negligible.

I made 327whp @ 10psi on the GT35R on the local mustang dyno ....

I hear all you guys throwing numbers around on the VE head. I know it is supposed to flow better etc. and I'm in the process of building my own VE, but my DET made the same power at around the same boost levels. It made 325on 12psi on the first hit and after some fuel/timing made 375@12psi on a heartbreaker dyno. I'm hoping I'll find out what all the hype is about when I get mine together but I wonder sometimes if it's worth it.

All the hype is about " poppn' vtec" like the honda boys. There is something for me very cool about diffrent cam profiles on an already proven sr20 engine.
