There is other threads on this subject. Valvoline 85w-140 is GL-4 and GL-5 rated.

End of story, Again best gear oil ive ever used.

I hate Royal Purple. Period. Tried their engine oil a long long time ago and every single one of my seals started leaking and they were new seals. I put Mobil 1 back in and not a single leak after I resealed the bottom pan. It only took once, I dont care if they have improved it or not. Wont use it ever again.

From what ive been reading the Valvoline oils have an addition of corrosion inhibitors that make it suitable for GL-4 recommended uses.

I cant find the GL-4 stuff on Valvolines site but Amazon lists it as GL-5 and GL-4 compatable.

The Durablend has an even higher mix of corrosion inhibitors.

Im gonna go with the Durablend in mine and see how it goes. No hurt in having a synthetic blend in there. And carries all the extreme pressure properties that the conventional has.

Again speaking from experience I wont use any other gear oil in my car or any other SE-R over 300whp. Just wont do it. Less than 300 you dont have to worry as much about breaking gears unless your just really really hard on them but the power itself will take a while to break gears. In those cases I usually use either valvoline conventional if the guy is cheap or mobil1 75w90

i switched to the 85-140 and i can feel how much smoother the shifts are....doesn't matter if i'm just driving or if i'm puting the hammer down it's so much better than ANY of the other gear oils i've tried in my car or in buddies cars....most of them run the redline....one is about to switch(lynchfourtwenty) cause of how well it works in my car......it is kinda thick on really cold mornings but it's up to temp quick and is as smooth as butter after just a min or two of driving

VALVOLINE 85-140 FTMFW!!!
